Summer is almost here- Its Vacation Time!

Wednesday, April 18th, 2012

I remember my Mom coming downstairs to wake us up for vacation bright and early in the morning. She would come down and wake up gently, and say “It’s Vacation Time”. That was the only time as a child I ever liked getting up early. We would get dressed, brush our teeth, and grab our suitcases to load up the blue station wagon… The good ole’ days!

Ocean City Maryland Beach Rental

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

Ocean City Maryland is a popular vacation destination for beachcombers and with so much to see and do, its no wonder that many will come this year to OCMD for their family vacation. Many Family Vacationers will log onto www.rentraffles.com for an affordable condo rental this summer in Ocean City Maryland.

Ocean City Senior Week Activities

Play It Safe Ocean City Maryland

Congratulations to the 2010 graduates as many will also make the trip to OCMD for Senior Week.
Ocean City is known for its “Senior Week” activities. Recently graduated high school seniors from Maryland and surrounding states travel to Ocean City to spend a week with friends and away from parental supervision. Senior Week traditionally begins the first week after graduation. The Town of Ocean City has a “play it safe” campaign with scheduled events to keep the graduates safe.

Attention High School grads! Are you coming to Ocean City Maryland for some fun in the sun? Do you like to dance or play volleyball or basketball? Do you like to bowl or surf the water slide? Would you like to learn how to windsurf or kayak? How about playing laser tag or paintball? Play It Safe has just the thing for you!

Play It Safe can offer you all of these activities and so much more. During June, the Ocean City Play It Safe month, there are over 40 exciting free events planned. With the support and administration of the Worcester County Health Department, it is planned and sponsored by the Ocean City Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Committee. The Play It Safe committee develops, prints and distributes nearly 65,000 Play It Safe booklets to high schools across Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Delaware just before graduation. If the booklets are not available at your school, you can pick one up at many Ocean City businesses, Visitor’s Center on 40th St., Chamber of Commerce and places of accommodation. This booklet contains over 47 money saving coupons and a centerfold calendar listing of all the free events. In addition, the Play It Safe booklet contains valuable information about potential health hazards, local laws and ordinances and where to seek help if needed.

The goal of Play It Safe is to encourage high school graduates to make informed, healthy choices while having responsible fun without the use of alcohol and other drugs. This project is a well coordinated effort of the Ocean City Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Committee, the Worcester County Health Department and the Town of Ocean City. It is a community wide project that involves a partnership of health, education, law enforcement, business, service organizations and volunteers. With a core grant from the Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention and donations from many local businesses and caring citizens, this project has been able to grow stronger every year.

Ocean City is a great place to visit, to have great fun and to make wonderful graduation memories. One important objective for the Play It Safe program is to promote an injury-free June for visiting High School grads. We encourage all high school grads who are planning to come to Ocean City for Senior Week to get a Play It Safe booklet from their high school or pick one up here in Ocean City. Check out the events, plan to attend them and be sure to bring your booklet with you! Pick up a wristband to ride the city bus all week – FREE. With everyone working together, your graduation vacation to Ocean City will be enjoyable and filled with outstanding memories. We, the Play It Safe committee, look forward to meeting you at one of our awesome graduation events!

The 58-acre complex offers three lighted softball/baseball fields, a lighted soccer field, multipurpose field, a fishing lagoon, a foot-bridge, concession stands, two playgrounds, a picnic area, two piers, a gazebo, walking/jogging paths and a 14,200 sq. foot gymnasium! The beach is simply a swift walk across the street where your family can enjoy the sand, sun and ocean water. Partake in a volleyball game, Frisbee tossing, football throwing or just pure relaxation. Rent umbrellas and chairs right at the entrance. However, if the family tires of beach and sand, try the convenient and spacious large in-ground pool simply steps from the front door.
